Vid: What I Like About You by [ profile] humansrsuperior (Doctor Who RPF, Matt, Karen & Arthur)
MADE. OF. SQUEE. omg stupid faces and bouncy behind the scenes fun and eeeee.

when I come to terms with this by [personal profile] wishfulaces (Amy/Rory, River, Eleven)
It’s a sort of fairy tale, if you squint right.

This breaks my heart a little then puts it back together in the best way.

Time and Company by anonymous at [community profile] 3_ships (Amy/Eleven/Rory)
A simple night out is never simple.

*_* This story brings me great joy.

that ring, sitting under the bench in the hall by [ profile] bendingwind (Amy/Rory)
Rory proposes to Amy three times.

This is SUPER CUTE and probably pretty much how it went.

The Many-Worlds of Amelia Pond by [ profile] snowdarkred (Amy gen)
There’s only so much about Amelia Pond that can be explained by a tear in time and space.

Thoughtful, lovely character study about how Amy's life doesn't make any sense and that's okay. <3

Playing Gods by [ profile] miscellanny (Doctor Who/Good Omens crossover, Eleven & The Them)
He smiled one of his very best smiles at the girl - Pepper, that was it. He found himself liking her in spite of her scowl; there was something vaguely Pondish in the way she folded her arms.

This is a really lovely scene set after 6x12 with excellent merging of the two canons.

part two: picspam of joy, forthcoming.
such_heights: amy and rory looking at a pile of post (tw: martha oh yeah?)
A post of parts today!

First, briefly on Supernatural )
So there needs to be Torchwood/Supernatural crossovers approximately yesterday. In fact, there are many, many Whoverse crossovers that should be out there! Which leads me beautifully onto part two:

[ profile] dw_cross sign-ups are now open! Last year was a blast and so this year I'm going to be giving [ profile] avendya a helping hand. I can tell you now we've got some fantastic prompts coming in already. The fics are due at the beginning of July, just after the end of Series 4, and whatever bits of Who fandom you're in and whatever crossovers you'd like to write, you should definitely come and play! Read more information here and sign up here before May 10th.

This just in - Freema Agyeman is adorable! (Links to her interview on the Paul O'Grady show tonight, featuring a clip from tomorrow's episode.) Star Trek conventions, guys, I ask you! *draws hearts* I shall be all a-flail tomorrow night, I don't doubt, so expect nothing but capslock from round these parts. Martha! *\o/*

I'm looking forward to Remix reveals tomorrow - I don't think I'm alone in being unable to get The Boy Who Killed Time out of my head, so I can't wait to find out who's responsible. I'm pretty sure on two or three anonymous identities myself, and if anyone else would like to take a stab at which one's mine you may do so here. I've got a few more things I'd like to read and leave feedback on before tomorrow afternoon, but here's a few more recs.

A Moon-Lit Challenge (The Ill-Met, Proud Titania Remix)
Good Omens/His Dark Materials; Lyra/Adam; R
Remix of A Moonlit Challenge (hmm, dead link) by [ profile] hyel
The new Eve and an Antichrist - not so much star-crossed as Dust-crossed lovers. Lyra wants her happy ending so badly, but she's still a long way away from endings of any kind.

Oooh, this is a wonderful meshing of canons - it blends in bits and pieces of other Gaiman and Pratchett stories, and the characters of both the main stories meet in all sorts of interesting way. Lyra and Adam are both perfect, and there's a lot of great cameos from others. A really nicely done, intelligent and interesting story.

Radioactive (the road to hell & good intentions remix)
Harry Potter; James/Lily; PG
Remix of Radioactive by [ profile] ineffabili_tea
In which James means well, but his grand plan loses something in the execution.

Awww, I haven't read proper Marauder prank fic in ages, not like this, this is so funny and well-characterised and great fun all round.

thirteen photographs (the via crucis remix)
Harry Potter; Remus/Sirius; PG-13
Remix of train de grande vitesse by [ profile] glass_icarus
A love story in fourteen parts.

Beautiful, heartbreaking and insightful, and the writing is just stunning. This captures so many moments, the kind of story to just wrap up in for a little while.

Somewhere, Just Not Here (The Five Months and Thirteen Days Remix)
Harry Potter; Remus, Harry; G
Remix of Heliacal Rising by [ profile] sambethe
It did no good to think of fair.

I'm a big fan of the original and this complements it wonderfully - one of those scenes that really ought to have been in canon.

Ah, see, HP, I do still love thee well, truly! And on that note I return to writing [ profile] lgbtfest, which is really not as done as it should be considering my posting date's on Sunday, um. Actually, on that note, if anyone had a bit of spare time over the weekend to give it a once over I'd be enormously grateful. It's Luna gen (well, mostly gen. I think.) and I doubt it's going to end up any kind of epic length.

Two fics I read today I simply have to pass on, because they're both wonderful.

Dear Alastor, posted today at [ profile] hp_summergen - G, Remus, Alastor Moody. “I’ve had a letter from Professor Lupin about this class,” says Moody in GoF. This is the letter.

A fantastic take on the letter Remus wrote after his year teaching, serving to remind me once again why Remus as a professor is pretty much my favourite thing in canon. There's a lot of wonderful details about his former students, and the tone of it is spot on. I really enjoyed it immensely, highly recommended!

And I was going to post that alone, but then the following cropped up on my flist, which I'm delighted to add!

End of Days by [ profile] magnetic_pole - Good Omens, G, Crowley, Aziraphale. Harry Potter hadn't seemed a likely vehicle for promoting chaos in the earthly realm.

So, those two discussing Harry Potter is made of win in any case, and this is a wonderfully funny story, but when you add on top of that Maggie's patented depth and layers, it's just fantastic. Hugely enjoyable, note-perfect in both fandoms, and I'm more than a little thrilled to have it connected to me!

Yesterday, there was Jack gen, Long Time Coming, which sort of took me by surprise and came out of nowhere. I return to regularly scheduled writing plans now - Marauders fic for [ profile] trowicia is coming along nicely, as is [ profile] dw_cross - when I've got where that's going a bit more concrete, I'll no doubt do some beta pleading. And all the time, Deathly Hallows continues to sneak up on us, eep!
such_heights: amy and rory looking at a pile of post (Saunter vaguely downwards)
Ok, going for some more upbeat things today! Eesh, I still have about 15 stories bookmarked I want to read, this is crazy!

Part the First and Part the Second.

Title: Bareback Flying On A Really Big Duck (The Dive and Drown Remix)
Author: [ profile] dracofiend.
Summary Remus likes James. James knows it. Sort of.
Rating: R
Fandom: Harry Potter
Original Fix Remixed: Away Laughing On A Fast Camel, by the lovely [ profile] sazzlette.

Read it here.

Get thee to the original if you haven't read it first, because it's fab and I think will enhance your appreciation of the remix. This is light and funny and chock-a-block of awkward sexual tension. James is completely ridiculous and poor Remus is just wonderful as he tries to navigate the hazards of spending two weeks alone with him. I was smiling through a lot of it, and it's a lovely, breezy read. Oh, boys.

Reasons to read: if you want to know how on earth James/Remus could work anyway; if you like good Marauders banter; if you want a really good slice of UST.

Title: Both Odd and Even (The f(x)=0 Remix)
Author: [ profile] melandry.
Summary: Aziraphale wants to kiss Crowley. He does.
Rating: R
Fandom: Good Omens
Title, Author and URL of original story: Both Odd and Even by [ profile] apple_pi.

Read it here.

Well, as it's one of only two GO stories in the Remix I imagine a fair amount of you will already have seen this, but if you haven't then hop along! POV change is used wonderfully here, and interestingly there's an initiator change as well, as in the original it's Crowley who starts events. I adore the characterisation of them both here, especially Aziraphale, who I sort of want to squish to discorporation then take home with me. And there are lovely footnotes and everything.

Reasons to read; if you'd like some getting-together fic; if you like the angelic/demonic banter; if you just want a delicious piece of Aziraphale/Crowley goodness.

I really like this idea =)

[ profile] china_shop's Fandom Appreciation Challenge Day Two - rec five stories from challenges.

So many to choose from for this, but here's a smattering.

Oscar Wilde Would Not Approve by [ profile] librae
PG, Remus/Sirius.
Summary: How Sirius saved Christmas and why Remus is actually illiterate.

It's funny, sweet, wonderfully characterised. Sirius and Lily start to notice things going missing from Remus' flat and investigate. This is bookish!martyr!Remus as he should be written, and it's a pacy, cracking read.

Extract: The next morning they met a block from Remus’s flat. Their own private conceptions of stealth more or less matched the other’s: Sirius was wearing a long dark coat and Lily had a white scarf wrapped around her hair. They were both wearing sunglasses. Sirius was carrying a camera. It was a bright white winter sun and they left blue shadows on the ice-glazed streets, and Sirius felt overexposed, that daylight was a spotlight for any potential witnesses, but the only people watching turned out to be pigeons. Lily said she felt sort of like Grace Kelly if only Grace Kelly had had red hair and a spine, and if only Remus had killed his wife or the neighborhood dog. Sirius did not ask.

Rat In The Corner by [ profile] greenspine
PG-13, gen, AU.
Summary: Peter must choose between himself and his friends.

This just blew my mind, a brilliant look at Peter's psychological make-up.

Extract: Betray… The word was a taint that wouldn't be cleansed from Peter's mind; it leeched the purity of innocence from his thoughts, never to be recovered. His friends were his family, and he loved them. He wanted them to make it through the ugly war. He wanted to see Lily's baby, to hold it in his arms.

But even more, he wanted to

Voldemort's Return by [ profile] magnetic_pole
PG, Remus/Sirius
Prompt: "Because" not "in spite of," rose hips, fur, comfort, reunion.

Remus/Sirius post-Azkaban through the eyes of Arabella Figg - already on to a winner there, compounded by beautiful writing in this wonderfully multi-layered tale.

Extract: Thus we fell back into our habits, a monthly visit over tea and biscuits. We talked about the cats and Mr Lupin's spring plans for his garden, about the Triwizard Tournament, and about Harry. It seems quite silly, in retrospect, that we were so excited for the boy; wasn't his very inclusion in the tournament a warning sign for us? Uncle Albus had said so, once or twice, but Uncle Albus worried about many things, and I paid him no mind. Silly me.

A Breath of Fresh Air by [ profile] melandry
PG, gen.
Characters: Arthur Weasley, Perkins.

This really is a breath of fresh air. A fun look at young and eager Arthur who you just warm to instantly, and an enjoyable vision of workings at the Ministry.

Extract: Arthur broke out in a slightly silly grin. "A mission? I can hardly wait!"

Graham didn’t trust himself to reply to that. Even tea wasn't going to help him face this one calmly, he suspected.

When he returned to the office, Arthur was arranging a few quills and one or two pictures of a friendly-looking, slightly chubby witch on his desk.

"Girlfriend?" Graham asked.

"My wife, Molly," Arthur answered proudly. "She's expecting." He beamed as though he couldn't be happier two months out of Hogwarts than to have a pregnant wife and a dead-end Ministry job.

Finally, a Good Omens rec.

An Excellent Long Term Solution by [ profile] bethbethbeth
PG-13, Aziraphale/Crowley
Summary: In which Hell seems more forgiving than Heaven, Aziraphale seems to have got himself into a bit of a pickle, and Crowley seems to have come up with the perfect solution, almost all on his own.

This is a lovely post-novel getting together story that hits all the marks just right.

Extract: "I can't," said Aziraphale. "I can't do...anything. Don't you understand? My side...well, they're a bit rigid about things like interfering in God's ineffable plan sometimes. Not like your lot, who I'm sure thought it was all a great laugh."

"Wait...they got rid of your wine?"

"All right, you need to start taking this seriously, angel," said Crowley, thinking this might be the appropriate time to take up pacing. "You're definitely in some kind of trouble with your people."
