Like half my reading list, I too feel enthusiastic about trying to post some more things in December. I didn't get to many of last year's prompts so I may well mine them again because there were some great ideas there, but if anyone's got anything they'd like to see then please do.

Also also, from the makers of the Aims Vidding Project comes ... the 1989 Vidding Project because of our collective Taylor Swift situation. [personal profile] silly_cleo is still looking for vidders if you'd like to get involved.

There's a holiday love meme going around; I have a thread here.

My work is running a conference at the moment, so I am delegate-wrangling on a Saturday. This seems cruel and unusual.

Posting topics! [personal profile] laurashapiro asked about what I'm looking forward to in the next season of Doctor Who. If you actually know anything about s8, please don't tell me!

Okay, I'll bite. No way could I post a thing every day like lots of you are doing, but it would be nice to join in the conversation this month, so.

Suggest a topic, and I'll pick some to write posts about this month! Any subject matter you like.

Oh my god, my inability to finish anything lately is just getting upsetting. /o\ Here, have a meme, as seen all over the place.

AO3 Works Stats

Gen (84)
M/M (47)
F/M (29)
Multi (27)
F/F (25)

I'm actually surprised F/F is the lowest here. And the order would look very different if you took just my more recent output - I've only written about half a dozen M/M stories in the last couple of years. (Though I can see Welcome To Night Vale changing that!)

Doctor Who (62)
Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling (60)
Torchwood (23)
Merlin (TV) (22)
The Avengers (2012) (12)

There was a while there I thought HP would forever be the top, but no more!

Amy Pond (26)
Rory Williams (24)
Sirius Black (17)
Eleventh Doctor (16)
Gwen (Merlin) (14)

It looks like I didn't tag a lot of my HP ship fic with characters as well, otherwise I imagine this would look different. Still feels fairly accurate though!

Sirius Black/Remus Lupin (24)
Amy Pond/Rory Williams (17)
Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones (11)
Lily Evans Potter/James Potter (8)
Gwen/Morgana (Merlin) (7)

It is indicative of my headspace atm and how busy I am that I STILL haven't watched this week's Doctor Who. Um, soon? Probably? In the meantime, hi, have some memes!

So that AO3 hitcount meme's going around again and I don't think I've actually done it before? So here goes, skipping comment fic:

by hits )

by kudos )

While I was looking to see if I'd done this before, I also came across the following and I would like to see it do the rounds again:

If you were asked to pick one scene, one shot, one detail, one moment of some kind out of all the things I've made and say "This, this, for whatever reason, I remember, this is something that struck home with me, that I wanted to keep," what would it be?

A love meme over at [personal profile] staranise's:

Leave a comment with your, or anyone else's, username in the subject and body. Once someone has a comment thread about them, leave a comment and tell them about something they've done or made that you liked. A kind word, a signalboost, a drawing, a story. This can be short or long. You can just name or link to something, or go into more detail.

So [community profile] snowflake_challenge has its own comm this year, running different prompts for the next 15 days to encourage fannish love/discussion/etc. Yay!

Day 1:

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

Okay I might cheat a little and do four - one fanwork per major fandom. A tour through my fannish history!

Harry Potter:

I Know Where The Summer Goes (Sirius & Black Family)

♥♥♥ Sirius! ♥♥♥ I started off my fannish life hanging out in the Marauders & Remus/Sirius corner of HP fandom, and I will always have a giant soft spot for that era and those characters.

I Heard A Whisper (The Way I Might Have Been) (Jack/Ianto)

So there was a time when there was this ridiculous, cracktastic, not always particularly good sci-fi show with queerness everywhere and I loved it. (... we do not speak of series 3.)

Vid: Antebellum (Gwen/Morgana)

The time where I loved two characters more than the show ever did. ;_;

Doctor Who

Vid: Love is Cool (Eleven & the Ponds)

Because working with [personal profile] purplefringe and vidding montages of some of my favourite characters hugging is one of my very favourite things to do. <3

+ Thank you very much to everyone for your lovely comments at [personal profile] ephemere's love meme, which looks to still be going strong! <333

+ There are now six trope fest fills - a Luther/Torchwood crossover, two Homestuck fics, and one each in Avengers, Misfits and Harry Potter.

+ I haven't had a much of a chance to dive into the rarewomen stories yet, but I love the story I received! Oh, Sarah Connor, my heart beats for you.

I have a list of fifteen characters. Ask me questions, or give me scenarios involving those characters. (Like: What does 7 think of 12? What happens when 3, 10, and 6 form a band?) I will answer them, and hilarity will ensue.

Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. Then update your journal and answer the following questions:

[personal profile] laurashapiro gave me Doctor Who, BSG & Fringe.

Doctor Who

What got you into this fandom in the first place?

Sat down to watch 'Rose' the night it aired; love at first sight. Then I started getting internet-fannish about it around s3, which is also the time my friends were enabling me into the Classic series, the Big Finish audios, etc etc. I now have books, audio CDs, DVDs, soundtracks, posters, action figures, multiple autographed things and various other bits and pieces of merchandise including a pop-up Weeping Angel because my dad thought it was funny. *fist shake*

Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?

It's hard for me to imagine not loving the show - I've certainly had periods of going off it before, see the year of specials and manpain, but I always come back again. It could happen, of course, but I hope it doesn't. Whether it'll remain my primary online fandom post-Ponds remains to be seen. I may jump on board writing fic about the new companion, or I may end up hunkering down in my corner making things about Amy and Rory way past the point where most people care, or I might spend more time somewhere else. Who knows! But I would be kind of excited to *not* break up with my major fandom for once, that would be super.

Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?

-- Classic series: City of Death, Five Doctors, Battlefield.
-- Big Finish audios: The Church and the Crown, The Kingmaker, The Time of the Daleks (DALEKS QUOTING SHAKESPEARE YOU GUYS, IT'S AMAZING) the Zagreus series.
-- New series: The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, Smith and Jones, Blink, Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, Vincent and the Doctor, The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang, The Doctor's Wife.

... what! It's a big canon!

Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?

Hahaha just a bit. Fic, vids, podfic, graphics, meta, I mod some comms, I cosplay - yeah.

Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

Well, the more the merrier, obviously! Especially if you want to make Ponds fanworks for me to squee over. :D But it's a big enough thing that I feel like everyone knows about it and if you want to watch it, you're watching it. *non-committal hands* I rarely get preachy about my shows because they're often so big already. The two box sets I tend to thrust at people are Avatar: the Last Airbender and Sarah Connor Chronicles, because they're kind of perfect. Everything else I love, well, if you love it too then that's awesome, if not, that's fine!

Battlestar Galactica

What got you into this fandom in the first place?

A bunch of people on my flist were watching it, and I had essay deadlines. (This is how I mainlined a lot of my TV during uni.) I caught up right before the finale aired.

Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?

I'm not sure I would ever consider myself as having been in the fandom as such - I've vidded it, and watched a lot of other vids for it, but I never really got immersed in it or read a lot of fic anything.

Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?

Downloaded. Boomer/Caprica = robot revolutionary OTP. Also the whole New Caprica arc. Those were the days.

Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?

Not really - I have made a vid, and have another one I might make sometime. It's a suuuuper depressing one about Dee and Gaeta, though, and I want to exist but I'm not sure I have the heart to make it. Maybe I should buy someone in an auction sometime and make them do it for me.

Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

BSG is one of those shows that was really, really awesome for me for a long time and then made me sad and angry, so I wouldn't recommend the show unconditionally to anyone. Also it's very dark and violent even when it's good so it's certainly not for everyone.

What got you into this fandom in the first place?

Everyone was talking about this Olivia Dunham person and she sounded pretty fabulous! I started watching it, and everyone was right.

Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?

I don't think Fringe is ever going to be a major fandom for me - I'm working on a vid right now and I do have some fic ideas, but it doesn't quite hit my 'must make all the fanworks' buttons.

Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?

Bound, Ability, Jacksonville, Brown Betty, Over There, Olivia, The Abducted, Making Angels.

Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?

I don't really feel like I'm 'in a fandom' until I'm subscribing to communities/hunting for fic etc, so Fringe is more a show that I watch and talk about with my friends and also am making some things for. I do have a lot of flaily squee for Olivia and Astrid in particular, though. <3333

Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

Given that this season has not really been keeping my interest, let me see how the finale plays out and I'll get back to you on that one. The Olivia Dunham Show is amazing, however, when the show remembers that's what it is. Beware a distressing amount of body horror, though! (I keep forgetting that I should never watch Fringe with food in case it's a gross-out episode. D:)
such_heights: amy and rory looking at a pile of post (who: amy [meet tardis])
ah, that time again, when I get to make lots of lists in the name of record-keeping. :D I am currently spamming tumblr with my favourite characters of this year, which so far include Abed Nadir, Amy Pond, Annie Sawyer, Caroline Forbes, and Diana Barrigan. :D

A meme from [personal profile] musesfool:

Your main fandom of the year?

Doctor Who, obviously. I'm not sure, maybe I was like this in Torchwood or Merlin at some point, but it certainly feels like this is the most mono-fannish I've been since way back in the day in HP. In terms of fannish output it probably is, though I've been reading in a few different fandoms, as ever.

The Ponds have definitely moved my Who fannishness up a few notches, and it was high before! I just love them lots and their story arc is one that brings out that 'make all the fanworks' bug in me, which I predict will continue next year.

Your favorite film you watched this year?

I loved Thor a whole lot I have to say. Thor! Jane! Darcy! Sif! Yay! :D (I enjoyed Loki lots as well, but I don't seem to have latched onto him the way a lot of the fandom did.)

Your favorite book read this year?

I finally got around to reading Ellen Kushner's Swordspoint and loved it tremendously. And yes, Privilege of the Sword is now on my to-read list.

Your favorite tv show of the year?

Doctor Who aside, Community has continued to light up my life.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?

I've been enjoying getting into the Marvel movie-verse I must say.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?

Although I'd already stopped being that invested in Merlin anyway, this season has ended up making me sad.

Your fiction boyfriend of the year?

ABED NADIR, BE MY BFF. I cannot even with his wonderfulness. *_* Also hi, Rory Pond, hi, I enjoy your face.

Your fiction girlfriend of the year?

Lots, as ever! Amy Pond, Diana Barrigan, Olivia Dunham, River Song, Annie Edison, Guinevere, and to be honest, Korra even from the tiny bits of trailer we've seen. :D

Your biggest squee moment of the year?

Meeting Karen Gillan. Twice. \o/ She is made of magic, I swear.

Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year?

AVATAR: LEGEND OF KORRA. AVENGERS. HOBBIT. DOCTOR WHO S7. I think it's going to be fun! I also need to catch up on Fringe and start watching Parks & Recreation.

I'm also excited about Korra and Avengers because hopefully it'll mean I'm crossing fannish paths again with people who I don't share fandoms with right now. Come join me in the build up to Korra particularly, there is a good chance it will be relevant to your interests!
