lyrics:

Blue blue caravan
Winding down to the valley of lights
My true love is a man
Who would hold me for ten thousand nights
In the wild wild wailing of wind
He's a house 'neath a soft yellow moon.
So blue blue caravan
Won't you carry me down to him soon

Blue blue caravan
Won't you drive away all of these tears
For my true love is a man
That I haven't seen in years
He said, "Go where you have to
For I belong to you until my dying day."
So like a fool, blue caravan
I believed him and I walked away.

Oh my blue blue caravan
The highway is my great wall
For my true love is a man
Who never existed at all

Oh he was a beautiful fiction
I invented to keep out the cold
But now, my blue blue caravan
I can feel my heart growing old
Oh my blue blue caravan
I can feel my heart growing old

I just realised that I never commented here to tell you how much I love this! But I really, really love this. As with all Vienna Teng songs you vid, I sit here thinking "was this song written ABOUT Doctor Who?" But I suspect it's actually just that you're so good and so subtle with DW footage that it ends up feeling that way. The vid has such atmosphere to it - it's a little creepy, a little strange, full of wonder and power - it's a more serious take on Amy than we get, a lot of the time. The ending is gorgeous; I find it very moving.

I just sort of stumbled on this, like the clutz that I am, and it's so *beautiful* and *right*. Oh, goodness. Amy Pond.

So I'm usually really rather ambivalent about Amy, but this vid just skyrocketed to the top of my list of BEST THINGS EVER. Masterful storytelling - what a way to align DW S5 fairy tale universe to the distanced, melancholy, saturated mythos Vienna Teng creates in Blue Caravan. Like many here, I'd listened to this song a million times already before I saw this vid - it's one of my favorites by her - and I am just in complete awe of how you cast this. My absolute favorite thing about this vid is how Amy so beautifully fits the narrator's POV, how you convey her personal quest, characterized by a perpetual struggle to understand how her life makes no sense, and to uncover the key to making it sensical throughout the entirety of S5. I would never have put her in this incredible mellow, meditative light before now. I'm especially in love with the transition from 1:24 to 1:27.

Gorgeous. Visually, and emotionally. Thank you so much for making this!

Oh my heart, this is beautiful. ;_; Sometimes I feel absolutely certain Vienna Teng must be a Doctor Who fan, I see so many vids that make me realize her songs are perfect for the show.

This is the Amy vid I was always waiting for - that's the best description I can give. I watched it, and just... everything was exactly what I've had in my head for the past year. (And there was much flailing.) I'll try to do some proper feedback though - I started out with time stamps and then sort of lost track. But here goes:

0:20 I absolutely ADORE the beginning. It's absolutely perfect (why do so few people pay attention to the universe pouring through her head?) and then the Doctor steps through the dreams and into the real world. (This was the point when I fell completely in love.) Because that's it!

0:47 '...a house 'neath a soft yellow moon' is just the most wonderful description ever, and sort of fits the TARDIS better than the Doctor, if that makes sense?

055-057 The TARDIS leaves and leaves and leaves and my heart breaks...

01:01 'Won't you carry me down to him soon' - the juxtaposition of images here is just gorgeous and magical.

And this is where my time stamps run out... I love the transition from apple, to communicator, to faltering steps, to frozen TARDIS - the sheer danger that's always there ("Believe me, for twenty minutes!"), the danger inherent in believing in the monster under the bed. Which leads to all the images of Amy watching, which is something I love about her - "Doctor, explain!" she says, because she wants to understand...

The whole part with Rory just leaves me in a small 'shippy puddle, so I'm not gonna talk about that.

And then:

For my true love is a man
Who never existed at all

Oh he was a beautiful fiction
I invented to keep out the cold

This bit just slayed me. Oh Amy. Putting them side-by-side like that, the way her mind and memories keep being taken apart and remade. "The girl who didn't make sense." I want to give her hugs and puppies and lollipop and the assurance that everything will be fine and that some day everything will make sense.

I'm pretty sure I started out with some kind of meta in my head, but that is obviously not gonna happen. So I'm just going to say thank you for this magical vid, and whenever someone talks about Amy I shall point them here and say "This is what I see, and this is why I love her!"

Oh! Such another beautiful Amy vid. Thank you! I love the overlays (is that the right term?) at the beginning with little Amelia, the whole sequence over the long, drawn-out "away" and after, and the tear at the is the perfect note for finishing this vid to this song. The text is just right, too. I've always read this season of Who as about the relationship between story, memory and identity, as reflected in the sheer complicatedness of Amy's life, and the number of times her story is re-written, leading her to reconstruct herself around all these different stories of her, how bittersweet that is, and I think this vid brings that out so very well.

And yes, I do just want to say,"Oh, Amy!

I'd also like to thank you for introducing me to Vienna Teng's music (always last to the party!) which I've gone and bought since seeing "Lullaby on a Stormy Night" and this. She really has written some tracks that are perfect for Doctor Who, and you've made beautiful vids to match them.

I've watched this several times now, and I'm downloading it because this one's a keeper.

HOLY SHIT HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS VIDEO EXISTED UNTIL NOW (okay it's only been two weeks but OH MY GOD). I made an Eleven&Amy fanmix for myself ages ago (which I should probably post eventually) and it has this song on it because it's the perfect Doctor Who song for S5 and I'm so glad someone else saw the connection! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect fanvid with this song, I'm just going to sit here and make flaily hands at you. (And also love you for the fact that you split the verses between the Doctor and Rory, which is something that, because I had it in my head that this was a song about Amy and Eleven in particular, I never pictured, but it works so well here and makes this so much more awesome than it would have been as a purely Eleven/Amy vid. AHHH I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. ♥)

I'm so glad to have found this link! A friend showed me this vid a week ago, then after watching the season premiere on Saturday, we watched your vid again.

This is gorgeous. The song fits so perfectly, and it's such a beautiful look at Amy and Rory and the Doctor, and how Rory and the Doctor fit into Amy's life.

Wonderful.

This is such a beautiful video. The song is so sad and lovely, suits Amy's twin desires to run away and to stay with Rory. And the timing of the last shot with the tear splashing on the book, OMG my heart.

I finally watched this and it has BLOWN MY MIND. Every single second took my breath away more than the one before. The song is absolutely perfect and perfectly matched. I think my favorite part might be the second "my true love is a man..." part...just, breath GONE. Like a punch, in a really good way. And the next "blue blue caravan" when it's no longer the TARDIS but scary things, that really got to me. Man, this is really the PERFECT song choice--the very first lines, the way the song sounds like a fairytale and the TARDIS as part of that fairytale, a magical wagon that comes in the night to take children away on adventures and maybe also just away. I love how "never existed at all" expands to be about both of them, and how you sort of strip them away and leave her alone, even as she brings them back with her memory.

Basically I LOVE THIS, a lot. Is what I'm saying here. OH, other favorite part, after the first verse, the shot of her sneakers walking slowly forward, and stumbling a little on the second step. That is just so perfect.

This has been on my to-comment list for AGES, and I am finally here *g*

I ADORE the use of text - I actually adore how much you use new techniques every time you make a vid, and it works so beautifully! I've always loved this Vienna Teng song, but you put a completely new spin on it, it's such a perfect fit. IT FLOWS SO WELL. It's beautiful. And the last shot - the ambiguity, gah. <3 <3 <3

And again I say - oh, oh, this just achingly beautiful. "my true love is a man / Who never existed at all" breaks my heart - it's Rory and it's the Doctor and it's all of them, and they come back but nothing's ever quite the same.

So glad I can start to grasp the beauty of these now that I've seen the Eleven seasons.
